Most people scroll through Reels, Shorts, and TikToks without sound. Not because your content isn't good - but because they're in public, at work, or just multitasking. That means if your video doesn't make sense without audio, it's dead on arrival.
Why This Matters
It's not just about accessibility anymore. Watch time is the name of the game, and if people swipe because they don't know what's going on, the algorithm learns your content isn't worth pushing.
Even ads get muted. So if you're not building for sound-off first, you're bleeding attention (and money).

• Use captions, not retention gimmicks. Just clean, clear, easy-to-read.
• Make your first 2 seconds visual, a color shift, prop, or movement helps hook interest.
• Test every video with the mute on, does it still deliver value?
